Time is a very precious thing for a mother. Being a mother should be able to strike a balance between career and parenting. In super busy circumstances a mother is required to keep giving warmth to the baby. Of course it’s not an easy thing.

A study shows that children who are close to their mother will be protected from depression and anxiety. Therefore, the closeness between a mother and child becomes very important.

In order to maintain the harmony of the relationship between parents and children, here are three techniques that you can do to stay close to your baby, even in a busy situation, reported from Psychology:

Listen to His Feelings

A mother often refuses to listen to the negative emotions felt by her child. Most of them immediately look for ways to correct the negative feelings of the baby. Listening to a child’s feelings is considered to be time-consuming and draining.

One way to help a troubled child is to understand it and then convey that understanding sincerely. For example, children do not want to go out of the house because their clothes are small, rather than you solve problems by going out to buy new clothes, you can try to show empathy.

Try saying, “It’s very uncomfortable to not like your own appearance. Mom likes to feel that way too.”

Once the child feels understanding and empathetic, he will usually be calmer and not feel lonely in difficult situations. Before the mother knows it, the child may have overcome his own problems after getting empathy from his mother.

Help Overcome Concerns

Concerns often include a child’s fear of ability, the possibility of loss, as well as new challenges. If parents ignore the child’s concerns, that attitude can be detrimental to the child.

A child’s worries are the same as an adult’s. Many times, parents forget what a child is worried about because he is also haunted by worry. An anxious child often finds it difficult to enjoy life. Mother should often ask the child if he is worried about something.

If a child expresses his concerns, then parents should respect them. For example, a child has a fear. Then you can say, “That’s a big worry. Mommy understands. Mom used to worry about it too. What can you help you with?”

When parents empathize with concerns, then the child will feel understood. Collaborating between children and parents will make the relationship closer. Children will tend to open up to parents because they feel understood.

Listen

Listen to your child when he wants to talk about his activities at school. Listen with genuine feelings. If the baby does not tell you about his activities, then you can ask, “Is there anything funny going on at school today?”

The child will start to tell stories when he sees his parents showing an interested expression. When a child feels safe and happy everything will go well. So, instead of focusing solely on behavior, activities, and how a child views the outside world, it’s better to know how you feel.
